Identify et prioritize major environmental and social issues on salmon rivers in the Gaspé Peninsula

The aim of this research project is to identify and prioritize the major environmental and social issues affecting the salmon rivers of the Gaspé Peninsula. The objective of this study is to evaluate the perceptions of users of Gaspé Peninsula salmon rivers on various issues, thereby contributing to the identification and development of conservation priorities for Atlantic salmon habitat, as well as to the improvement of land management practices.

CONTEXT

Salmon rivers play a crucial role in Canada's ecological, economic and cultural landscapes. However, the vast majority of wild salmon populations in Canada have been in decline for several decades. The unique landscapes of the Gaspé Peninsula have been taken by storm, and the influx of tourists has sometimes created challenges in terms of reconciling uses between users, as well as exerting additional pressure on habitats and vulnerable species, including salmon rivers.

OBJECTIVE

If interested, you will be invited to participate in a 45–60-minutes one-on-one interview, conducted in person (preferred) or remotely (videoconference or telephone). This interview will give you the opportunity to share your point of view on the issues in Gaspé Peninsula salmon rivers.
